Q: What is cold process soap?
A: Cold process soap is basically the “old time” method of soapmaking. Fats and oils are combined with lye (usually Sodium Hydroxide) and water. When mixed, these basic ingredients go through a process called “Saponification” which turns the fats and oils into soap!
Q: Who makes your soap?
A: All of our soap is handmade, cut, and packaged by Brenda and Kevin right here in NC.
Q: How is your soap packaged?
A: Each bar comes in its own eco-friendly & durable clamshell case, which is made from recycled cardboard and is 100% recyclable. The clamshell protects your soap in transit and is easy to store & stack. It’s also perfect for gift-giving without any extra wrapping! Each bar is labeled with what type of soap it is, as well as an ingredient listing.
Q: Is lye soap dangerous?
A: While lye is used in the soapmaking process, there is no lye left in the finished soap. It is converted during production, leaving nothing but gentle, skin-loving soap!
Q: Is your soap all-natural?
A: Many of our products are indeed all-natural, but there are some instances where a man-made fragrance component is needed. We use only clays, micas, and mineral oxides for our colors, and prefer pure essential oils for our fragrances. However, some plants and scents do not create essential oils, in which case a skin-safe fragrance is used. We never use any artificial lathering agents, detergents, or preservatives in our soap. Our all-natural products are labeled as such on their packaging and product page on our site.
Q: Do you offer uncolored and/or unscented soaps?
A: Yes we do! We have multiple offerings in our catalog that contain no added colors or scents. The color and smell of the finished bar are purely the result of the soap ingredients. Please note that all soap will have some kind of naturally-occurring scent, even when no Essential Oil or Fragrance is added.
Q: Why does soap need to be cured?
A: While cold process soap is safe to use within a day or 2 of being made, it continues to improve with age, like a fine wine or cheese! As soap cures, water continues to evaporate and the soap becomes more mild. The result is a harder, longer-lasting bar that’s a joy to use! Our soap is not sold until it is already fully cured, so you can use it immediately!
Q: Does your soap contain glycerine?
A: Yes it does! Glycerin is a natural byproduct of the saponification process. While many large-scale manufacturers extract the glycerin from their soaps for use in other products, we leave the glycerin completely present in our recipes so that you get all of the wonderful skin benefits!
Q: How should I store my soap?
A: Before use, you can store your soap inside its package in any cool, dry area such as a cabinet or linen closet. In the bath or shower, we recommend using a soap dish or soap rack. This will prevent water from pooling around your soap, allowing it to dry between uses and last longer!
Q: Are your products vegetarian and vegan friendly?
A: Many of them are! While we do sometimes use ingredients from animals such as Goat’s Milk, Honey, Beeswax, and Egg (all of which have wonderful benefits) we do also have many products that use no animal products or byproducts whatsoever. Vegan-friendly products are labeled as such on their packaging and product page on our site.
Q: Do you test on animals?
A: The only animals we test our products on are ourselves and our human friends. In other words, our products are NEVER tested on animals.
Q: Is your palm oil from a reputable & sustainable source?
A: Some of our products used Palm Oil and/or Palm Kernel Oil. We no longer use palm products, however, when we did all of our palm products came from vendors who are members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, which promotes the production and use of sustainable palm products. Q: What is the shelf life of your soap?
A: Cold-process soap has a very long shelf life. Shelf stability is dependent on the storage environment, as well as the types of oils used in each particular recipe. While your soap will last for years if properly stored in a cool, dry area – the color and scent may fade a bit over time. For optimum results, we recommend using soap within 1 year of purchase.
Q: What are those bits and flecks in my soap?
A: In some of our soaps we add in herbs, botanicals, or other skin-nourishing additives such as oatmeal, poppy seeds, etc. Reasons for these ingredients can include scent, color, texture, exfoliation, and more. All ingredients are fully listed on each soap’s package and website product page.
Q: Do you use local ingredients?
A: We use local ingredients whenever we can! While our materials come from a variety of suppliers, our highest priority is sourcing all ingredients from companies that share our high standards for quality products and ethical business practices. We love to use local goat’s milk, honey, beeswax, and other ingredients whenever possible.
Q: How do you Ship?
A: All of our orders are shipped via US Postal. Rates can be seen and selected during checkout. We also offer local delivery for shipping locations with Raleigh zip codes of 276**.
Q: When Will My Order Arrive?
A: Processing time on any order is usually 1-2 business days. Our packages are shipped via First-Class or Priority service, depending on the size/weight of the order. Transit time will depend on your location, as well as any possible technical and/or weather-related issues with USPS.
If you choose Local Delivery, we will contact you to schedule a date and approximate time for your items to be delivered.

Q: What Happens if my Package is Lost or Damaged?
A: We handle these issues on a case-by-case basis, so please contact us if your package has been lost or damaged in transit.
Q: What is Your Return Policy?
A: We offer refunds or exchanges only on unopened and unused products. We want all of our customers to be 100% thrilled with our items. While we cannot accept returns or exchanges on used items, please let us know if a product does not meet your expectations and we will do what we can to make it right.

Q: Do you do custom orders?
